For Community Faith Leaders: Patient and Visiting Information

What you need to know to connect with members of your congregation

How to Connect with a Chaplain

The pastoral care office is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 3 p.m. on Friday. Chaplains are available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week at all three hospital sites. To speak with a chaplain, call the office at 610-402-8564 or call the paging operator at 610-402-8999 and ask for the chaplain on call.

Congregant information

We respect patients’ privacy and confidentiality. Our volunteers will visit patients, explaining the availability of our chaplains and attempting to connect them with their faith communities. They will ask patients if they would like to be listed as a member of their congregation and whether they would like us to call their congregation. If patients do not want to be listed under their congregational codes, we must respect their wishes. We can only call you when a patient or family member asks that we notify you of the patient’s admission.

To receive the names of patients who are listed under your congregational code number at any of the hospital sites, call the pastoral care office at 610-402-8465 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.

What You Need to Know About Your or Your Loved One's Visit

Our Patient and Visitor Guide answers many of your questions including what to pack, important phone numbers and making your health care wishes known to your doctors.

You and Your Faith Community

In respect of your privacy, we will only contact your faith community with your permission. Volunteers will visit you when you’re a patient and explain the availability of our chaplains to you. If you would like to be listed as a member of a congregation, please let us know and we will contact your faith leader.

Ask Our Expert
Q: I don't belong to an organized religion. Can I still call pastoral care?
A: Yes! Our chaplains are trained to help you, whether you believe in God, Jesus, Allah or Buddha, or have no connection to a religion or church. Our role is to help you through difficult situations. We don’t always understand why things happen, but we can help you cope with the situation you’re in. You are not alone. Our chaplains are specially trained and experienced in providing healing services to all people, regardless of religion or creed, and to help you understand that you are loved. - Barbara Rutt, R.N., M.Div., Pastoral Care Manager
